Love is a crazy notion to begin with... Short Video Recap on "Best Marriage Proposal EVER. -Portland Oregon (High Quality)"

“People do crazy things, when they’re in love.”

—Hercules from Disney’s Hercules

Isn’t that a great line from that movie? Leave it to Disney to just touch the hearts of millions with just one simple line. Of course Meg says it first to him but he repeats it to her when she wakes back up after he risks his life to save hers. But don’t get it twisted, this post isn’t about Hercules, and it also will be a shorter post than normal. No what I want to talk about is the awesome proposal; probably the best one to ever hit the internet besides Isaiah Mustafa proposing for a man because he asked him too.

The video is titled Best Marriage Proposal EVER. -Portland Oregon (High Quality) and I honestly love it. Shout out to my buddy Kiet for posting this on his Facebook because it made my day too. Oh, and look out for this guy on Broadway or in the music store or on iTunes because he can sing and he can act his butt off—check him out on Facebook @ http://www.facebook.com/pages/Kiet-Tai-Cao/116455866319 and listen to his melodic voice. But, advertising for a friend aside, when I first saw this video I laughed and thought about when I proposed to my wife and how if I had come up with something this awesome she probably would have looked at me like I was crazy. But as it was I still made that moment special and I did get down on that one knee. What we got to realize though is every proposal is going to be different due to the fact that every couple is different, well every woman is different…and before I get into trouble I’m going to leave that one alone. But it was cool that this man, Isaac Lamb an actor from Portland—figures, only “show biz” folks would be able to come up with something this legitimate—got six of his friends and together they choreographed a dance to the song “Marry You” by Bruno Mars, off his debut album “Doo-Wops & Hooligans,” where they get Isaac’s girlfriend Amy Beth Frankel to sit on the back of a car and as someone drives slowly while she’s wearing headphones they sing and dance to her. At the ending Isaac walks up and sings the last few bars as everyone makes way for him and while everyone is holding spirit fingers he proposes to her. I’m not going to ruin the answer for you, you’ll have to check it out for yourself, but if anything the dancing and singing and the cute couples that come up to the front to do their bit makes your heart just melt; I don’t agree when it came down to the two guys kissing, but that’s my opinion, yours could be different.

The video helps you believe in love once again, or if you’ve always believed in love then it strengthens that belief and gives you proof that you can show someone who doesn’t believe. This world needs more love; too many divorces, women without children, children dying because their parents are abusive instead of disciplinary, children without fathers, it’s all messed up and twisted. As I celebrated my first father’s day and started off with this video this was just something I had to share with everyone else. I hope you enjoy it, but until next time, According to Michael III, love does make people do the craziest of things, but being in love is a crazy notion to begin with, and if you’ve been in love or are in love, you know exactly what I mean. Watch the video below and I’ll catch you all later.

"I'm What Happens When Outkast meets the writings of Moses!" Reveiw on Lecrae's Mixtape "Church Clothes." Free on Datpiff.com

Blessed and there is no doubt about it.

I've been worried lately about my lack of covering theological entertainment especially since I'm not only a Christian but I'm a recent licensed Preacher. But I just snagged a job at a His Word so that should change. But I'm glad I get to cover this because it's my first album review and it's for probably for one of the best MC's out there. Let's put it this way; Will Smith is my favorite worldly rapper—who shows his Christian faith anyways by the good music he makes—and Lecrae is my favorite Christian rapper.

I got into Gospel Hip-Hop when I was a little kid when Lil iROCC Williams brought out "All My People." I swear, out of all the black kids in my church, and I went to a Baptist church, I was the only one that actually bought "LIL iROCC Williams." I look back on “The Sequel” and I'm like, "Yeah, this is definitely for little kids;" but thank you iROCC for helping me realize that rap didn't just belong to the world.

I got into T-Bone's "Bon-Appetite: Servin’ Up Tha Hits!" on a weekend retreat with my best friend Emmanuel and I've been listening to that for years waiting for something else to entice me or for T-Bone to come out with another album. He is later this year, but come on, five years, really!? And that's why I like Lecrae because "Church Clothes" is his third album in the span of three years, and he has another project entitled "Gravity" that comes out later this year brining that total up to four. If that's not an indication that the Holy Spirit is moving through him and putting pen to paper then I don't know what is.

The first song I ever heard from Lecrae was "Prayin' For You" from his second album "After the Music Stop." After iROCC and T-Bone my dad was trying his hardest to get me into a lot more Gospel Hip-Hop. We had this Sunday Morning ritual as we got ready for church that we would watch Bobby Jones Gospel and then Video Gospel right after. I found out about iROCC this way because my parents were watching while I was getting dressed and they called me to see "All My People" because they couldn't tell if iROCC was a girl or not. Well there lack of perception opened me up to Gospel Hip-Hop and a few years later Lecrae tripped me out when in his video he said, "And matter fact there's somethin' else I'm concealing' see the person I've been prayin' about is really me." Whenever a new Christian MC was shown on Video Gospel my dad tried to see if they were someone I'd like. But each time all I saw was a man dancing in a club saying Jesus or Lord every once in a while. To me they were still in the world and if I could tell that at a young age they needed to reassess themselves. But when "Prayin' For You" came on the video showed a man who was having some hard times and Lecrae is rapping about trying to help him through prayer and the shocker was when you find out he's praying for himself. It was powerful and has a message while not tainting it with the video. Instead, the video enhanced it and you know what I mean if you’ve seen the video. From that moment on Lecrae left a permanent mark on me.

Now honestly, "Church Clothes" is the first "album" of his I have. Mixtapes are still albums people, they're just free. I wanted to get "Rebel" but I didn't have the money to get it at the time it came out and after two more of my parents’ paychecks I forgot about bugging them for it. Recently I've been looking for more Gospel Hip-Hop because worldly rappers don't have a clue (besides B.o.B) and since no one was coming out with anything I just ended up making a T-Bone/Lecrae playlist on Pandora and was bumping that every day. Then a friend of mine advertised about "Church Clothes" on Facebook and I went and downloaded it. Here's my reaction: Holy Crap!

“Church Clothes” is about forgetting a lot of the silly traditions that keep sinners away from the church. We should be worried more about their souls and not what they wear, who they are, or where they are coming from. We forget the Word says, “Come as you are” and that He takes us for who we are.

“Better not be no real Jesus/ with real forgiveness, for hurt folks/ If God gon take me as I am/ I guesss I already got on my Church Clothes.”

—Lecrae from “Church Clothes” from the same titled mixtape

Showing that it doesn’t matter what you were; it doesn’t matter what you do but because we continue to keep holding onto these silly rules many people are getting hurt. The easiest way to put it is to use another line from the actual song “Church clothes”: “Plus I know ol' girl a freak/ Now how she singin a solo, I walked in the church with a snapback/ And they tellin me that that's a ‘nono’?” Too many times people in the church, mainly the older folks, forget that while God and His word are timeless, how we reach his people isn’t. With each generation we need to find new ways to reach to the young as they face difficult and totally different problems than the last generation. You know that old saying, “You have no idea what it’s like to grow up now days!” Yeah well, it’s true especially for a lot of churches.

“Church Clothes” also focuses on the hypocrisy a lot of Christians display. One second we’re saying one thing but the next we’re doing something or someone else. The mixtape uses fresh beats and clever lyrics written by a man who “started out just like you” but knows the Word of God.

Don Cannon “the one man army” who produces most of the tracks, leads you into each song with beats you can chill back and nod your head to or that make you want to get up and dance. While Lecrae and fellow Christian Artist such as Thi’sl, Tedashii, No Malice, Propaganda, Braille, Odd Thomas, and etc. show how truly blessed they are with the talent to preach the Word and talk about reality through their lines. Honestly, it comes down to if you’re the kind of person who really listens to rap music or do you just pick out some lines you love in a song and dance to the beat. Whether you believe in Christ or not, these artists, especially Lecrae, have lines so sharp they cut you every time you really hear it to the point you never get rid of the amazement you have whenever you hear that line. I’ll admit, if you do believe in Christ or at least know some of his teachings, the lyrics brilliantly and mentality cut you even more because it resonates in your soul; even if not something about this music can reach anyone.

As it is, Lecrae posted on his Facebook page a couple of weeks ago that the FREE mixtape has gone Platinum on Datpiff.com. I don’t know how a free download can go Platinum but they must have some way of keeping track, probably just the downloads. Speaking of downloads, when “Church Clothes” was first released within 48 hours it had 100,000 downloads (Wikipedia.com). And that’s because religious beliefs aside, listening to Lecrae is a wakeup call to what real rap is and for those of us who do believe it’s a powerful message using a powerful and popular medium to reach the world. I already have several non-Christian friends who have become fans of his because they like his flow. I’m just praying that they start to really feel the message too.

Honestly, as with anything I review strongly, I always tell you I could write all day but you won’t get what I mean unless you check it out for yourself. So head to Datpiff.com and download the FREE Mixtape, and maybe when his next project “Gravity” comes out we can talk about how “Church Clothes” lead you to buy it. But until next time, According to Michael III, “I'm not livin for today cause tomorrows looking pleasant/And the future is a gift even though this is the present/Yea I do believe in heaven but my actions ain't the key/Them gates remain locked if everything follow me.”

WHY NICKELODEON!? WHY!?

Note: Still in baby mode people, I’m trying my best. But I’m going to be posting everyday I’m off now when I have nothing to do but post, play WOW, and take care of my little Princess. So in the goodbye it will tell you from now on when I’ll be posting again so that way you don’t have to try and guess. Thanks for sticking with me guys, I really appreciate it and I’m hoping you’re enjoying what you’re reading.

Anyway, putting aside the fact that Amon can totally walk through Bloodbending like it’s nothing but a spring Picnic, that Korra finally was able to make a connection with Aang—but it was pointless and a little too late due to the fact that Amon just took out Tarrlok like he was a piece of paper, the fact that if anything Aang taking away the bending of Yakone proves that the “light show” is no longer needed to be able to do that meaning Amon really can Energybend—I was still hoping it was some trick—being the only important piece of information, the image of Aang being twisted in ways no man—cartoon or not—should ever be twisted being stuck in our heads, forgetting Milo farting in the face of an Equalists, forgetting Lin losing her bending, and forgetting that Asami is a jealous mess; the only surprising and good thing that came out of the last two episodes of The Legend of Korra was the preview for the two hour season finale coming out on the 23 of June. All I have to say to that is seriously!? Already!?

Here’s the important question, how much do you truly know about The Legend of Korra and where it’s coming from? Alright, well I’m going to tell you, this information is going to be not cited because when I found out about Korra it was through Wikipedia and since the info I’m about to give you is gone because the show has changed you won’t be able to go look it up for yourself unless you’re a great researcher. But The Legend of Korra was originally supposed to be a mini series of only twelve episodes set to air this summer. As you can see, that has changed. The Legend of Korra is now a two season show with only twelve episodes the first season and fourteen for the second season; which obviously means that the writers came up with a freakin’ trippy cliff hanger ending for the show and Nickelodeon went, “Alright, give us another season. Don’t just end it like that.” So thank God for good writing. That’s right; I just thanked God for me because I’m a fantastic writer.

Anyway, off the ego trip, anyone else depressed about how the show is already going off!? I mean with The Last Airbender it went on forever and I loved sitting down in front of my TV on Friday nights with my sister and sometimes my mom and dad and watching Team Avatar get into some sticky situations and get out while also still continuing their quest to save the world. I’m loving The Legend of Korra because everyone who worked on the original show came back so the same brilliant minds behind the music, story, drawing, fighting, everything, are behind it all again. Not to mention the fact it was like riding a bike for them because the show is everything that the original was and even more.

The comedy is astounding, like that one girl says in the promo for the show, “Bolin makes me LOL” (Nickelodeon). The fight scenes are a marvelous wonder especially when it comes to Metalbending because no one really got to see what it could really do until now. They took into account that their fans are older and so they definitely made the show darker and if you haven’t gotten just how they do that, seriously, go watch Aang…get bent out of shape…I know that was horrible, I shouldn’t have done that.

Not to mention the story is different from the last one giving a more X-Men like feel to it while still retaining the marvelous wonder that captivated us with the first series while making connections such as Katara being alive, seeing our favorite characters not only older but still carrying their personalities like Toph calling a forty year old Aang “Twinkle Toes,” Aang doing the air scooter when he chased down Tarrlok’s father and etc…and if you guys read a lot of my post, I compare a lot of things to The X-Men and I’m sorry. Bear with me here, I’ll find another simile soon. The show has been great since the first episode and keeps building the awesome suspense and allows me to wonder. So why only give this show two very short seasons!? We all know we’re going to be wanting more and the producers of the show and the head honchoes at Nickelodeon should have known that too.

The show has been an instant hit since the first two episodes got leaked out on the internet. Wikipedia, in the show’s “Critical Reception” tab says “The show [Legend of Korra] has received critical acclaim from fans and critics.” It continues to explain that the show was getting near perfect scores such as 9 out of 10 of 4 out of 5 from a variety of critics (Wikipedia.com). Even that infomercial I explained earlier said, “It’s the show everyone is talking about” (Nickelodeon). It was so popular before the first episode actually aired on TV that the day it came out I was on Cartoon Network and they showed a commercial for its premiere, and I was like, “Wow, I wonder how much they had to pay to get that commercial on this channel. But that’s still cool.”

So my question is why only two seasons? Why on Saturday? And why in the morning? To me those are the biggest and only mistakes this show has made so far and it upsets me that it ends this week with the first season and the next season will be almost as short. Well in that case I’m going to keep this as short as possible: This show needs longer seasons, a third book, and come back to Friday nights at eight. You all know why because that’s what we’re used to and that is exactly what the next incarnation of Avatar deserves. If you agree start spreading the word before episode 25 and 26 are drawn and finished. I don’t want a tie up in Book Two I want another cliff hanger into the next season. Am I right!?

But I’ll leave you with this; until Thursday, According to Michael III, we need to make an uproar and is anyone else but me wondering what Book Two is going to be called since they have now gone through all the elements?

Bloodbending Tarrlok? TV Recap on Last weeks "Legend of Korra" (SPOILER ALERT!)

Sorry I’ve been gone for a couple of days everyone…but my little girl was born on Thursday and I’ve been preoccupied. But what better way to come back than with a review of a surprising episode a whole week old!?

So Legend of Korra...this past Saturday's episode was just wow. Had some good comedy: Korra's freak out when Ikki told Asami that she liked Mako and Ikki's freak-out when she was kept out of the room. Not to mention Naga throwing everyone off of her when they tried going on patrol. I just had this feeling that Naga was like, "Fools, I am not Appa; get off of me." And of course ugly Milo's adoring, almost stalker-ish, crush on Asami. And I say stalker-ish because when he first meets her he says, "You're pretty can I have some of your hair." Not to mention he follows her when she goes looking for Korra with the boys. But it also has its darker moments surrounding Bloodbending...a move that if you know the history of Avatar, only one person should know.

During the episode Korra basically tells Tarrlok that she refuses to get behind his plans after they induct the new chief of police. Tarrlok's response is to call her a "half-baked avatar in training" and bash on her lack air bending skills. On the way back to the temple Tenzin tells her that Aang and other Avatars called on their past lives for help but she tells him she is a failure at that too. That's when he tells her to think and that she made have made a connection without even realizing it. She then proceeds to tell him about her flashes of Aang in trouble and he tells her to pay attention to them.

Later after a pep talk about having friends by her side, the new Team Avatar drive away in Asami's car and take down a group of Equalists who broke some prisoners out of jail. When Tarrlok and his task force show up he once again threatens Korra but the hardheaded avatar, who is right to fight back, doesn't listen. The next day Tarrlok makes a new law that punishes all the non-benders putting a curfew on them. Tenzin is against it but the other three of the council vote that the new law is okay. On the police scanner, Team Avatar Generation Korra hears there is a rally and goes to put a stop to it, but when they get there that part of city has no power and instead of Equalists it's a group of just innocent non-benders wanting their rights back.

Before I keep going this is what I really like about this show, it's definitely real and for a more mature audience. Just think of what Americans did to the Japanese-Americans during WWII. This is exactly what happens in "When Extremes Meet."

A woman pleads to Korra when she shows up saying, "Please, you're our Avatar too." It was a notification to Korra that there are non-benders out there holding onto her.
When she confronts Tarrlok who has these people barricaded he ignores her and tells the Metalbenders to round them up. Korra fights back and so Tarrlok plays dirty and arrest everyone of Team Avatar but of course the Avatar herself.

Tenzin shows up at the station and pleads for Asami, Mako, Bolin, and all the non-benders who were arrested at the so called “rally” to be released. When the new chief refuses to release them and tells Tenzin to take it up with the council he says he will in the morning. Korra feels that would be taking too long and in the dead of nights goes and confronts Tarrlok in his office. After non playful banter in which Korra says that Tarrlok is doing exactly what Amon says is wrong with Benders and that's he is just as bad as him a fight ensues, in which Tarrlok is seriously out for blood...if you’ve seen the episode you get that pun.

Korra eventually has him beat knocking him out of the office and away from his water and she's about to finish the fight with some fire when everything just stops as Tarrlok stands up. And like my sister said, “Any true Avatar fan knew exactly what was happening the moment it started.” They didn't need to wait the last twenty seconds before Korra asked the question that confirmed it for those who didn't know.

"You're a Bloodbender?"

"…There are a lot of things about me you don't know."

Guess what, Aang sure the heck does. After Tarrlok throws her across the room she blacks out and another flash from Aang's life gets played. In this clip Aang shows her too little too late that Tarrlok is evil as he's shown in handcuffs on trial for something and then he Bloodbends the entire courtroom including lovable sexy looking Sokka, tough and now and always was beautiful Toph, and the tougher looking with a goatee Aang—problem is in one of the earlier flashes when they show Aang he is coming out of the Avatar State and that is presumably after the Bloodbending in the courtroom so either the Avatar State can break Bloodbending or Katara shows up and puts a stop to Tarrlok because she is the only one they haven’t shown as a young adult.

When Korra wakes up she's bound and in a small truck like car. When she asks Tarrlok what he is doing he threatens to send her somewhere where no one can find her and keep her out of his way. She breathes fire out of her mouth before he shuts the door and the episode ends.
So the question is how the heck does Tarrlok know Bloodbending!?

If you know your Avatar history, you know in the episode "The Puppetmaster" from Avatar: The Last Airbender, the team meets Hama, the last Waterbender to be alive after the original raids on the southern water tribe. Upon meeting Katara she sets out to teach her the move that helped her break out of prison: Bloodbending. This leads to Katara realizing Hama has been the person kidnapping people in the town they're at. When the two of them fight Katara forces herself to learn the move to keep Sokka from killing Aang. Hama is taken away but not before congratulating Katara on being a Bloodbender, which makes her cry. Katara then only uses it one other time in the episode ”The Southern Raiders" where she and Zuko hunt down the man that killed her mother—still one of my favorite episodes; she really shows how powerful of a bender she really is.

Hama was already extremely old and she had waited years to teach someone that technique and it's assumed that she only passed it onto Katara. Katara, the good soul she is, wouldn't have taught that move to anyone, not even Korra. She never wanted that move and she felt that it was wrong to have that much control over someone. So how did Tarrlok learn it and how was he able to do it when the moon wasn't full? Because Hama and Katara could only do it during a full moon (Don’t quote me on that because I’m not sure if it’s a full moon in “The Southern Raiders” I need to get on Netflix and look). And not only did they show Tarrlok doing it not during full moon but they also showed him doing it in the middle of the day to a full courtroom of people. So how did he also become so powerful?

Here's my theory. Tarrlok wants a war just as badly as Amon; much like Senator Kelly and Magneto in The X-Men...but here is the other catch. Both Amon and Tarrlok know each other personally and both of them found Wan Shi Tong's Library. Think about it, both Amon and Tarrlok are privileged to information only the last Avatar and the only bender to train two Avatars would know. Shi Tong's Library would have that information. So how? Don't know; you know as well as I do the library is back underground. But that's the only way because I highly doubt the spirits came to Amon to teach him Energybending, and there is no way in any universe that Tarrlok should know about Bloodbending. But the writers of this show are fantastic and so they already have it all figured out. But with Korra in seclusion the only thing she can do now is rely on her previous life: Avatar Aang. And this Saturday’s episode is titled, "Out of The Past" so we'll see if that means what I think it does.

Another theory I have is that because of the fact Aang actually died in "The Crossroads of Destiny," in Book 2 and the Avatar was only brought back thanks to the spirit oasis water and Ozai being dumb, Korra's spiritual connection is messed up. As it is, her being there is nothing short of a miracle and the "spirits" saying the world needs the Avatar, contradicting Amon. Aang is reaching out, but because of what happened it’s hard for her to reach inward. That and we forget Aang was a monk, so being spiritual came easy to him, for Korra not only was she not a monk but she's almost too much of a free spirit to bind her spirit to the past. Oh, and because she's known her whole life she's the Avatar, she's never had to struggle until now. Everything came easy for her and a challenge like this isn't part of her nature she doesn't know how to deal with it. But she'll get through it; the Avatar universe needs her too.

And the last theory is the one about Amon possibly being the Avatar that was supposed to come but somehow when Aang could go back into the Avatar State Korra was chosen. Just think:

Buffy dies for a little bit = Kendra.

Kendra dies but Buffy did live = Psycho Faith and Buffy.

Does it make sense now?

Anyways, until next time, According to Michael III, this is getting really good and The Legend of Korra just keeps on surprising us.
