"iCarly" is going off in November. (Enter sad face of your choice here.) So what's next for the cast?

It's six in the morning and I can't sleep. But I'm sitting here watching iCarly's "iPilot" on Netflix and I can't help but wonder if when this show finally ends in November if the final episode will be called "iSay My Goodbyes" or "iEnd the Show." Thats right, iCarly is going off after five seasons.

The show starts with "iPilot" when Carly Shay, played by Miranda Cosgrove gets into trouble for her abrasive friend Sam Puckett, played by Jennette McCurdy, and they spend their Saturday video tapping kids for the talent show and Carly's neighbor who has a major crush comes along for the ride because he has a camera. After spending a whole day tapping kids that suck and kids that are good but do things differently they turn in the recording on a video sharing site known as “Splash Face” and the girls are shocked when they accidently see themselves making fun of one of their teachers on the site as well. The tapping of Carly and Sam goofing off and making fun of their teacher gets 27,000 hits and before they can take it off the teacher who they make fun of sees it and then goes to choose all the kids with crappy or no talent at all for the show.

Frustrated by adults who are just rude being able to control the world Carly comes up with the idea for the web show where they can do whatever they want basing it off of the comments from their video. Sam chooses to make the show Carly's saying she'll "just show up and be your [her] amusing little sidekick," while Freddie comes up with the name. The ‘I’ for the Internet and Carly for her name and Freddie becomes the technical producer. The first episode of iCarly is a hit showing kids with freakish talent with 37,000 views and they celebrate with a crazy hat party. Autographs are signed and fans are made and this would be just the beginning of an awesome show as the first sets of videos of kids doing insane things like spinning a basketball on a cordless phone is show in the credits. It was official; in 2007 Dan Schneider had created another hit.

The show would go on to have big names visit like The Plain White T's, Good Charlotte, One Direction, Jack Black, Jimmy Fallon (who's episode hasn't aired yet) and First Lady Michelle Obama (Cinemablend.com). It's a big part of the last few years of my childhood as much as it was for Miranda Cosgrove who grew up on Drake and Josh and matured (somewhat, it's a comedy show guys) on iCarly. Getting a small record deal and just having the time of her life while Dan Schneider produced and created a show that would stand out amongst all other shows because it was one of the last of the good shows for the 90's kids before the 2000's showed up with all their really inappropriate and not funny cartoons and live actions.

iCarly from the beginning has stood up for teen independence in a way that keeps teens from getting into some messy stuff. It's witty and charming, a good laugh for all ages and has retained a large adult audience and has also been on multiple "Best TV Series" list between 2009 and 2010 (Wikipedia.com). It was something different than the norm and it worked. It sparked creativity and allowed hundreds of thousands of kids to have their five minutes of fame during the credits.

This June is when they will be filming their last official TV special that will air in November and end it hopefully on a good note and great laugh (Cinemablend.com). So what's next for everyone on the show, well Noah Munk (Gibby), Jennette (Sam), and Jerry (Spencer) are all staying on nick. Noah is getting his own pilot which he's starring in considering his character Gibby became so popular they made him a part of the regular cast for season 3 in 2010. Jennette is sticking with Dan for a new live action show, and well we don't know what's next exactly for Jerry but he is on Tough Puppy...which can't go very far, but he apparently has another project in the works (Cinemablend.com). And what about the child and teen star Miranda? She's been on Nick since she was eleven and they've been good to her. So where is she going now? Well thankfully I think she’s making a smart choice. The now nineteen year old is heading off to college to get her degree in who knows what but she's going to college. Will she return to the acting scene when she's done? Who knows, she's made enough money that she's only has a year to be able to spend so she probably doesn't have to do anything anymore, but she probably will. And college will give her some time to break off of the characters she used to be and establish something new so that will be good for her. So many child stars get typed cast and when they get too old for one show they can’t get anything adult without acting up because their fresh off the kiddie market.

I'll be looking out to see what she does next. I, for one, am sad to see this show come to end but it must and here’s to hoping the rest of the cast that has plans has some good shows heading our way. But until next time, According to Michael III, iAm applauding this show.
